delaware is a partner of EMW, a world leader in the field of earthmoving projects. Through subsidiary companies in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, the group coordinates projects around the world specializing in large-scale earthmoving, rock excavation, shore protection, aggregate crushing and screening as well as ground improvement works.

EMW relies on an impressive machine park of around 250 machines, split in 25 different types (excavators, bull dozers, wheel loaders,…). As an asset-heavy company it’s highly important to make sure any downtime is limited to the minimum. Any unforeseen delays may hurt both our EMW’s operations and its client’s. The quality of our machine park is key to deliver operational excellence.

An always up-to-date machine park

To keep this machine fleet in top condition, the company has invested in its own fully equipped workshop. Prior to the cooperation with delaware this workshop was run on a system of excel-based input sheets in combination with an ERP-like database without any links to the financial database.

Together with delaware, Microsoft Dynamics AX2012 was successfully implemented to have a single digital platform to manage Purchase, Warehouse, Workshop, Finance and Operations (project management). With this setup there is better control to keep track of the repair costs, monitor ongoing maintenances and repairs, follow stock movements through the company and analyze project budgets.

As a result, having better control over the financials enables the company to identify any weaknesses in the operational process and enhance competitiveness for future tenders. Lead times for project related information have gone down allowing a better follow-up and analysis of the companies situation. And the process of management reporting has been simplified as the information is now based on a single source. In total, the EMW group has about 30 active users using AX for their day to day operations.

In Belgium and Qatar

Thanks to the magic of the cloud, the implementation of the AX2012 solution has been essentially managed from Belgium, where EMW’s parent company Aertssen is based. During the implementation process, key users travelled to Belgium to actively contribute to the preparations and a Belgian team from Aertssen spend multiple visits in the Middle East to work closely with the end users on preparations and trainings.
