Spending too much time processing data manually and correcting human error? Siloed systems. Limited visibility. Sound familiar? In today’s fast-moving world, HR can’t afford to be slow, fragmented, or paper-based. That’s why one global customer came to us with a clear challenge.

By Caroline McDonald - SAP SuccessFactors Consultant

That Challenge: From Fragmentation to Unification

Our customer needed to replace outdated systems with a unified, cloud-based platform that could scale globally, integrate with finance and payroll, and deliver a modern user experience. The goal was clear. Create a single source of truth for HR data while reducing complexity and driving adoption.

The Solution

To meet this goal, Delaware implemented SAP SuccessFactors Employee Centrala robust, modular HR solution designed to deliver immediate value and long-term flexibility. Our approach focused on delivering a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and fully integration ready (accompanied by functional specifications within 4 months, enabling the customer to realise benefits quickly while laying the foundation for future enhancements.

Less time doesn’t equal less impact. The MVP included core HR processes such as organisational management, employee data, time and attendance, and intuitive self-service capabilities.

By prioritising these essentials, we helped the entire organisation:

  • Consolidate HR data across multiple organisations

  • Eliminate manual, paper-based processes and reduce duplication

  • Improve data accuracy, transparency, and compliance

  • Empower employees and managers with mobile-ready tools for everyday tasks

Tech is only half the story

Technology alone doesn’t guarantee successIt’s the outcomes that matterOur team combined deep technical expertise with a pragmatic, business-focused mindset. We leveraged SAP’s best-practice configurations, minimised customisation, and ensured seamless integration with existing systemsincluding finance and payroll by using Azure middleware. This approach reduced technical debt, accelerated deployment, and positioned the client for ongoing innovation.

By adopting standard processes and avoiding unnecessary complexity, we ensured the solution was not only fit for today but adaptable for tomorrow. This future-proof design means the organisation can easily scale, add new modules, and embrace emerging technologies without costly rework.

Lessons learned: the human factor

One of the most important insights from this project? Transformation is as much about people as it is about platforms. Success depends on strong collaboration, clear communication, and a shared commitment to change. Throughout the project, we worked hand-in-hand with stakeholders, upskilling client teams, supporting data migration, and providing robust post-go-live support.

Key takeaways?

  • Adopt standard processes to maximise value and minimise complexity

  • Engage business leaders and end-users early to build ownership and drive adoption

  • Prioritise change management to ensure the solution is embraced and sustained
