Junior SAP Software Developer

Microsoft, software development, no experience, developer
Belgium

"On my current engagement, I’m embedded inside the customer’s operation. My week splits between sitting with the people who actually run the business, building production code that fits how their work really happens, and untangling the integration problems nobody warned us about. There’s no project manager translating between me and the outcome, I own whether this works. That’s the part that’s hard to find elsewhere." — Brecht

As a SAP Software Engineer, you embed with one customer at a time and own the technical outcome end-to-end. You scope the problem with the business and decide how it gets solved, that’s real autonomy over the solution, not just the build. You stay long enough to see it adopted. You are not advising from the outside, and you are not configuring a platform from a checklist, you are the engineer who makes the deployment actually work.

As a junior, you’ll start by writing production code and solving integration puzzles you won’t find in any manual. Along the way, you'll learn to translate your work to the client, and over time, you'll help decide what gets built. You will be the technical point of contact for your slice of the engagement, the person the customer calls when something needs to work, and the one who explains why it works that way.
The pod around you exists to support your delivery: an Engagement Lead manages the commercial relationship and clears blockers, a Knowledge Partner at HQ turns your patterns into reusable assets for the next engagement, and a domain specialist is on call when the business problem demands depth you don’t have yet.

Prepare for engagements across industries, food, chemicals, life sciences, discrete manufacturing, energy, retail,... Each one is a different business to understand and a different production environment to deploy into. The variety is the point: it’s what makes the work compound, both for you and for the practice.

What team will you be part of?

Our SAP Development team builds the digital backbone of companies that make, ship, finance and serve. We design and extend the core systems these businesses run on and automate the processes that keep them moving. Concretely: we use AI coding assistants to scaffold and refactor integration code so engineers spend their time on the design decisions that actually need judgment, and we build event-driven pipelines so systems react to what’s happening in the business in real time. We work across the full stack and connect SAP to the wider ecosystem of tools around it.

You don’t need deep SAP knowledge on day one. Your onboarding combines structured SAP fundamentals training with shadowing on a live engagement and a mentor who reviews your first production commits. Most juniors move from shadowing to owning their first customer-facing deliverable end-to-end within their first year.

Are we a match?

Don’t worry about meeting every line below; tell us what you have and we’ll see if the fit is there. So, if you:

  • Are a student in your final year, or a young professional with one or two years of experience, with a strong analytical core.
  • Are comfortable with programming logic and willing to grow into our tech stack, you don’t need to be a polished developer on day one; you do need to enjoy thinking in systems, processes and structures.
  • Have an instinct for consultancy: you don’t just take the business’s requirements at face value, you ask why, and you’re comfortable questioning the ask when a simpler or better solution exists.
  • Speak English fluently, preferably in combination with Dutch or French.
  • Have a driver’s license, to get wherever you need to be.
  • Are motivated to learn fast, broad, and across business and technical domains.

Then you’re the Junior SAP software engineer we want to meet.
