“As an integration consultant, one of my favorite projects was working with a hospital to integrate their HR systems. This was a complex task, as it involved bringing together various systems and processes to improve the hospital’s HR operations. It was my first project, and I didn’t realize how many systems were actually involved. First, you have the employee management software and the payroll provider. However, employees also need to expense things if they buy something for work, so there was another tool for that. The recruitment team sometimes wants to get a candidate take a cognitive test, so there was another tool for that. Not every employee has access to every room or building, so access management needed to be integrated too. There was another tool for that. You get the gist, right? Getting all these systems to work together in a structured and maintainable way was a huge challenge.” — Rob Hofman 

As a Junior Integration Engineer, you’ll take on the role of technical consultant. You’ll be supporting our projects from start to finish, from analysis to implementation and support.This will feel like coming home thanks to your knowledge of IT.  

But there’s more: the consultancy element means that you’ll collaborate closely with our customers in BeNeLux and beyond. You’ll learn to understand their needs and come up with customized technological solutions that work for their business.

What team will you be part of?

We’re the Integration team. We untangle the IT knots that many companies have created out of their different systems, technologies, apps, and tools. We make sure everything is logically structured by making applications talk to each other. Our tools? We work with three ecosystems: Microsoft (Logic Apps, ServiceBus, Eventgrid, APIM, Data Factory, and .NET), SAP (BTP, API Management, Event Mesh, Groovy script, and ABAP), and Mulesoft (API-first, API-Led Connectivity, etc.). 

We work where we work best, when we work best. delaware has its offices in Antwerp, Ghent, Kortrijk, Liège, Lummen, and Wavre, but as a consultant, you’ll sometimes find yourself on-site with our customers as well. We offer flexible hours, and we’ll find the perfect balance together.

Junior Mobile Developer

“Since starting at delaware, I’ve been working on a project at Fluvius to develop and maintain various applications. During the development phase, our team mainly focuses on the quality of the code; readability is paramount. The applications we currently develop consist of an Angular front end and a .NET API. In the front end, the focus isn’t only on web applications but also on hybrid apps and PWAs. This is a challenge because you have to keep the look and feel of the different platforms in mind. What I like most about the job is the impact you have on the client — the apps and functionalities I develop support the technicians at Fluvius in their daily work.” — Marbod Naassens

“I started as a junior IT consultant on the Web & Content Solution in September. My project for Etex Group is fascinating. I’ve had the opportunity to implement back-end systems for their enormous websites and integrate them with other software. Additionally, we’ve worked on a fire protection website/app that we had to implement from scratch. This included SQL statements, stored procedures, importing it all into C#, creating a REST API, writing validators, and writing some front-end for another app. After signing my contract I still had some doubts about whether I had made the right choice. Junior Customer Experience Consultant

“As a Customer Experience Consultant, my job is very diverse: customizing software based on the needs of the client, aligning with stakeholders on what the specific business needs are, working on training materials to coach the client in using the software the correct way, etc. The type of work really depends on the stage of the project. I’m now working on a project where I’m configuring Microsoft Dynamics to the needs of the client, organizing the data set to make use of other integrations, documenting the configurations in DevOps, etc. Being a functional consultant means that you have to adapt to the needs of the project in order to provide value to the client. This is done by automating and optimizing their processes such as marketing, sales, field and customer service!” — Nicolas Flanagan 

Like Nicolas, you’ll be working as a functional consultant, straddling the business and IT sides of our projects. What does that mean exactly? A project typically goes a bit like this: first, you visit the customer and organize workshops to analyze their way of working. Based on that information, you create blueprints, drawing up processes and suggesting optimizations. Then the IT part comes into play. You’ll be inputting the processes to a software package and translating business requirements into technical specifications for our developers (who will do the coding). After testing whether everything works properly, you’ll train the customer in how to use the new system.
