Royal Boon Edam

Royal Boon Edam started out in 1873 as a carpentry factory and over the years has become the international market leader in the field of revolving doors and entrance systems. The company is active in more than fifty countries and today also provides smart access solutions that generate data for their customers.

In 2017, Boon Edam reached a peak. The company worked with various legacy IT systems, which meant that data was fragmented across the different systems, and employees had to do a lot of manual work, making work processes prone to error.

One BOON

In order to fuel their growth strategy and continue to innovate, Boon Edam decided it was time for a change. Marcel Schilder, Group IT Manager of Boon Edam, explains what action the company took: "Together with our innovation partner and project manager Delaware, we started the One Boon Project: one way of working and reporting in one platform".

Schilder: "We chose SAP S/4HANA as the platform to support all end-to-end business processes. We used Delaware’s Fast Engineer Template. With this template tailored for the manufacturing industry, Boon Edam adopted an integrated smart customisation process. This enables the company to develop products quickly and to easily standardise and automatically incorporate special customer requirements into their products.

One place where all processes come together

"With SAP S/4HANA we now have one version of the truth," continues Schilder. "Thanks to the Fast Engineer template, we have realised smart integrations with other tools, so that all data eventually flows back to the platform. SAP S/4HANA has been integrated with our product lifecycle management tool to support the development process, the webshop for ordering spare parts, interactive screens on the shop floor, and mobile solutions to support service engineers in the field. Because these information flows are consolidated, we have more insight into our business".
